About Succession Intel

Succession Intel is a technology service that researches and compiles the financial picture of an estate. We query Canadian financial institutions, credit bureaus and registry sources and deliver a sourced report reviewed by our committee before it reaches you. We are not a law firm, a bank or a financial institution.
EstateSearch Canada is a database-search product focused primarily on unclaimed property and some registered accounts. Succession Intel is a full research and compilation service covering bank accounts, registered plans, investment holdings, creditor mapping, government benefit accounts and property cross-reference in a single report. We also offer a committee-reviewed delivery, meaning a human team checks every report before it leaves. The two services address different parts of the estate research problem and are not direct substitutes.
Estateably is estate administration software: it helps law firms manage workflow, track tasks and produce court-ready documents for an estate file. Succession Intel is a data research service: we find what is in the estate before the administration begins. The two products work at different stages of the process and are complementary rather than competing. A law firm might use Estateably to run the file and Succession Intel to do the asset and liability research that feeds into it.
No. Succession Intel is a technology provider, not a law firm. Nothing we produce is legal advice, fiduciary advice or a legal opinion on any estate. The report is a research document for you and your counsel to act on.

The research

What we do and how

We need the deceased's full legal name, date of passing, province of residence, and Social Insurance Number (SIN). For our Family Intake service we also ask for the date of birth and last known address. We do not need account numbers, passwords, PINs or access to devices.
Every report is checked by our internal review committee before delivery. We verify that the research is complete, that sources are accurately cited, and that the formatting meets our standard. No report is sent until the committee signs off.
Standard delivery is 5 business days from payment confirmation. Priority Concierge orders are delivered in 3 business days. The free Estate Snapshot is delivered within 2 business days of submission.
Our standard packages cover Canadian institutions. For estates with potential international assets, our International Estate Support service extends research to select international jurisdictions. Contact us at contact@successionintel.ca to discuss the scope and timeline for your specific file.
Yes, and we encourage it. The report is formatted to be handed directly to counsel. Each finding includes the institution name, account type and research source.
